THE collapse in support for both the Labour and Conservative party during this week’s local elections is just the “calm before the storm” amid brewing anger over the Brexit deadlock.

This week’s humiliation of Theresa May’s Tory party is just the beginning of a “car-crash” election campaign. According to a political polling expert, the local elections are the “calm before the storm” of the European Parliament elections at the end of May. Professor Colin Rallings predicted a wipe-out for the Westminster establishment at the ballot box, with voters expected to deliver a resounding victory to Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party.

Professor Rallings told ITV: “Frankly this is likely to be the calm before the storm.

“For the major parties in particular, the European Parliament elections are likely to be a car-crash really.

“It seems now odds-on that Nigel Farage’s Brexit party will top the poll.”

This week’s vote saw Mrs May’s Conservative Party lose more than 1,300 seats, with the Liberal Democrats the main beneficiaries.
