O'Toole's costed platform channels Lester Pearson
If there had been no Trudeau (we can dream, can’t we), O’Toole’s current platform would have been more expensive and expanded government more than the platform of any Liberal prime minister up to this point.

I was going through the official costing of the Tory platform on Wednesday evening while waiting for the second French-language leaders’ debate to begin. (I really know how to have a good time.)

Erin O’Toole would spend $50 billion more than the Liberals proposed in their 2021 budget.

That’s not as much, of course, as the $78 billion in extra spending promised by the Liberals during this campaign. But $50 billion on top of already record-high spending is hardly conservative.

Nor is it conservative that the Tories would reduce the Liberals’ obscenely high annual deficits by just 13 per cent over the next three years.

Then, while I was whooping it up with revenue and expenditure tables and economic forecasts, it struck me, O’Toole may be popular with Ontario voters because he’s the Liberal prime minister they really want.

By traditional Liberal standards, Justin Trudeau is too radical.

What Ontarian’s really want is Paul Martin or Jean Chretien, someone with fairly liberal social policy but also an eye for economic growth and the balance sheet.

Jack’s Note: For all the kiddies in my audience who don’t know who Drew Pearson was a little tip might be helpful.

HE’S THE ASSHOLE WHO INTRODUCED PIERRE ELLIOT TRUDEAU TO COMPLETELY UNSUSPECTING CANADIANS!!

‘After his 14 December 1967 announcement that he was retiring from politics, a leadership convention was held. Pearson’s successor was Pierre Trudeau, whom Pearson had recruited and made justice minister in his cabinet. Two other cabinet ministers Pearson had recruited, John Turner and Jean Chrétien, served as prime ministers following Trudeau’s retirement.

Just so’s ya know!

Canada election: Singh calls Jody-Wilson Raybould’s claims about Trudeau and SNC-Lavalin scandal ‘unsurprising’
The sad truth actually is this… “What difference, at this point, does it make”?! Trudeau and O’Toole are the pilot and co-pilot of the same UNI-AIR plane full of practically identical liberal thought processing. Singh is a piece of work in his own right. No matter which one of the two dunces gets elected just promise Singh a whole bunch of free stuff and his political prostitution is assured. Then we can all then sit back and ‘enjoy’ the majority government Canadians will almost assuredly vote to deny both of them. Dark days indeed.

1967, the Canadian buck was at $1.10 USD and the country had no national debt. Expo 67 brought Canada to the world. The country had paid off its WWII debt because the bank of Canada was not borrowing money at interest, Trudeau changed that in the 70s when he contracted the publicly owned bank of Canada to the BIS. He introduced us to post war national debt. What goes around, his son has saddled us with a greater than world war two national debt. Anyone born in the 70s will live their entire life with national debt.

The 60s really were the good old days. It all changed, Trudeau took his walk in the snow because he knew he would be crushed in the election. Mulroney brought us the GST and NAFTA and shortly after he left the party was crushed in the election. Since that time, with the exception of Harper who did have some common sense, the musical score to Canadian leaders is the march of the gladiators.

PS

My door bell died and I bought another one from amazon, made in China of course. In the selection of chimes is march of the gladiators. I chose that because everytime the “bell rings” I’m never sure if I will confront or not some clown from the new reality.

PSS

On saving the planet. Replacing the blade on my Japanese brand lawn mower the best price by far was with amazon. The blade was made in the USA. I later discovered the distributor was in the UK who sent the blade to a dealer in Ireland who in turn mailed it to me in Canada. As an old white guy the end of the world, one way or another, will be said to be, personally, my fault. It really is a long way to Tipperary.
