Kate Middleton has cancer, says she’s undergoing chemotherapy in emotional video

Catherine, the Princess of Wales spoke in a video and shared details about her health, saying doctors found cancer during her abdominal surgery in January

Kate Middleton has cancer.

After three months out of the public eye, Catherine, the Princess of Wales made the announcement in a video posted to the Kensington Royal social media accounts.

After thanking people for their good wishes, Middleton shared that she was undergoing “preventative chemotherapy” after her doctors discovered cancer during her abdominal surgery in January.

“At the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous,” Middleton, 42, said in the video, while sitting outdoors on a bench. “The surgery was successful, however tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team advised I undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I’m now in the early stages of that treatment.”

This news, Middleton went on to say, “came as a huge shock.” She said that she and her husband, Prince William, have been “doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

This has “taken time,” she said, adding that she has needed to recover from “major surgery” in order to start her treatment.

“But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis.”

The princess said that what she has told her children is: “I am well, and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body and spirits.”

She also added, “having William by my side has been a great source of comfort and reassurance too, as is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you.” In the video, she wears the sapphire engagement ring that many on social media noted was absent in her “doctored” Mother’s Day photo.

Her final words in the video were a request for “time, space and privacy” while she completes her treatment.

“My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I am able,” Middleton said. “But for now, I must focus on making a full recovery.”

Jack’s Note:  Having recently lost my own wife to cancer after a  long battle I know how this is affecting Kate and her family.  God Speed Kate and take all the time you need to get well.  I’m definitely in your corner and I’m not alone.
